When it comes to ensuring that your children not only carry healthy meals to school but also actually consume them, Gundersen Health emphasizes that it doesn’t require complex strategies. Their key approach involves teamwork and granting your kids a voice in their cafeteria choices.
Halley Molstad, a registered dietitian at Gundersen, emphasized, “One of the most pivotal actions parents can take while preparing school lunches is to actively engage their children in either assembling the meals or allowing them to have a say in the selections.”
Molstad also advised that a well-rounded lunch for your child should encompass at least three diverse food groups. Furthermore, assisting them in discovering foods they enjoy within these groups is important for encouraging healthier eating habits.
